"Solo Exhibition"

美術の第一の革命が「遠近法」だとすると、第二の革命は1839年の「写真」の発明である。そして今、「３DプリンターとAIによる第三の革命」が始まっている。今回の個展では、 ３DプリンターとAIを積極的に活用した。例えば、DMの絵の中のタロット風の人物の周りの風景は生成AIによって拡張されたものである。
If we consider the first revolution in art to be the invention of "perspective," the second would be the invention of "photography" in 1839. And now, we are witnessing the beginning of the third revolution with "3D printer and AI." In this exhibition, I actively utilized 3D printer and AI. For instance, the landscapes surrounding the tarot-style figures in the artwork on DM(left pic) were expanded using generative AI.
また、『AI~来るべき世界(2024)」という作品は、2018年の同名の作品をAIを使ってリメイクしたものである。2018年版にはAIは使われていない。その時点ではAIは手軽に使えるものではなく、あくまで到来するAI時代をイメージした絵に過ぎなかった。左に比較できるように並べてみたので見比べてみてほしい。DMの女教皇の周りの中世の街並みも、一見それらしく見えるが、よくみると家が箱型になっていない。Sunoなど音楽生成AIも驚きの進歩を遂げているが、音楽的にはおかしなところも多い。最後に構造と意味を与えるのは、今のところ人間の仕事のようだ。
Furthermore, the artwork titled "AI ~ The Coming World (2024)" is a remake of a work of the same title from 2018, using AI. At that time, I did not use AI in the 2018 version. At that time, it was not easy for us to access AI, and it was merely a picture imagining the forthcoming AI era. To compare, I put them on left side for you to observe.The medieval landscape surrounding the High Priestess in DM may initially appear authentic, but upon closer inspection, one would notice that the houses are not box-shaped. Similarly, music-generating AI like Suno has made remarkable advancements, but there are often strange parts in musical structure. So far, it seems that providing structure and meaning still remains a task for humans.
インスタレーションはデューラーの版画『メランコリアⅠ(1514)』にインスパイアされたもので、「あの不思議な立体を手に取ってみたい」と思った。全ての頂点が球に内接するという説があり、数学の専門家とそれが可能か実証した。フレーム立体のジョイントは３Dプリンタで製作した。
The installation was inspired by Albrecht Dürer's print "Melencolia I" (1514), and I was intrigued by the enigmatic solid depicted in it, wanting to physically grasp it. Someone said that all vertices of the solid are inscribed within a sphere, and I made sure it's possible with help of mathematician. A 3D printer was used to create the frame structure's joints.
前回の個展で発表した"Sound Book"シリーズとして"Durer's Solid"を制作した。本を開くと、Durer's Solidをイメージした曲が流れる一種のオルゴールだ。正三角形と五角形の面を持つこの不思議な立体にちなんだ「ポリリズム」、つまりメトリックモジュレーションという技法を使って作曲した。
For the "Sound Book" series presented at the previous solo exhibition, I created "Durer's Solid." When you open the book, it functions as a sort of music box playing a tune inspired by Durer's Solid. I composed the music using a technique called "Metric modulation(polyrhythm)" which is based on the enigmatic solid with equilateral triangle and pentagon faces.
